The Best Things In Life Are Free (well sometimes): Louisiana Family Portraits

September 1st, 2010 | Baton rouge Children's Photographer, Louisiana Children's Photographer, Louisiana Family Portrait Photographer, Studio

Here are a few of my favorites from this weekend’s free sessions! These are some sneak peeks for the moms until I get the galleries posted. I don’t always post alot of day to day stuff on the blog. This is a good example of the bread and butter of Amy Martin Photography. Not every session is in a remote location with furniture and crazy props, although I LOVE that, we still need a something somewhat tradtional to give to grandmas for Christmas.

These little cuties were the first session of the day. They braved the rain clouds and the wet grass.

What do you do when 2 out of three kiddos are crying? Turn them around for a looking away shot. Don’t worry mom, we got some great individuals! I love the photo on the right. Sometimes it is really hard to get a sibling that is a little older to hold the baby in a perfect way, but he nailed it!

You may remember this little girl from what might be the most popular maternity picture on my blog. Check it out here!

This girl is an old friend of mine. She admitted to me that this was their first professional family photograph besides portrait innovations, she also admitted that she didn’t tell her husband about the session until the night before because she thought he wouldn’t wanna do pictures. I am proud to say that we finished their session in about 20 minutes or less. I am pretty sure dad enjoyed himself, or at least didn’t feel tortured :)

Here are mom and dad having a little fun

Do these kids look like models or what?? I have to commend the mom on the awesome outfits. People if you are about to schedule an appointment,  Crew Cuts is your friend.

Okay the mom is probably going to kill me but it is too funny not to show.

In the first picture she is flipping me off, and in the second picture she is praising God for helping her change her ways.

I heart little boys with long hair

These two little girls did Awesome considering it rained a slow light mist most of thier session.

This picture cracks me up, looks like big sister is getting an earful.

I love this family. Looks like this dad better get some guns handy for the boys at the door. His daughters are GORGEOUS!

    Olivia: Baton Rouge Children’s Photographer

July 22nd, 2010 | Baton rouge Children's Photographer, Louisiana Children, Louisiana Children's Photographer

This is Olivia. She was cracking me up the whole time. She also one of the smartest kids her age that I have ever met. Seriously she is 2.5 and has the vocabulary of a 5 year old.

She is my cousin (kindof sort of)  and she looks almost identical to my sister at her age.

    Here she is

These two pictures crack me up. The one on the left is the face she was making when she was telling me a story about how snakes are mean.

Ok lets see if I can get this right. This client was referred to me by this client who was referred by another client who was referred to me by another client! I love when I can make a track that far down. Happy clients are the best advertisers. Here are a few photos for a sneak peek for this adorable little man’s mom to enjoy. I love newborn photos that are taken in the home, they are so sweet and personal.

    Growing up: Louisiana Children’s Photographer

June 25th, 2010 | Baton rouge Children's Photographer, Family Portraits, Louisiana Children, Louisiana Children's Photographer, Louisiana Family Portrait Photographer

I first took this little girls picture when she was a newborn. a year has passed and she is just as adorable as ever. Her parents chose to do her photo session at a plantation owned by the family. I love when clients make their photo-sessions special by choosing a meaningful place.

Little Grace is the typical one year old, she can stand up but only holding onto something. I suggested trying to force her to stand so in the first picture here you will see her being slightly held up by her grandfather, and in the second, standing all on her own. Her parents were almost squealing with excitement as she stood there for a good little bit. They said that is the longest she has ever stood on her own.

The weather was not cooperating too much and the rain forced us on the porch.

I love this photo of the family. I know it isn’t the perfect everyone smiling at the camera picture but to me it represents real life.

As we were walking back to the car, the sun gave us the most beautiful light.

Afternoon In The Park: New Orleans Family Photographer

June 22nd, 2010 | Louisiana Children's Photographer, Louisiana Family Portrait Photographer, New Orleans, New Orleans Children's Photographer

Sometimes as a photographer it is a struggle to LOVE your work. So many people strive to be “different” that everyone ends up looking the same or a copycat of the latest popular photographer within the industry. There are many days when I feel like my work sucks or I could have done better. But phone calls like the one that this momma sent me make my day and help me to realize that I don’t suck and I should never compare my work to a competitor or anyone else for that matter. She said that she had been wanting to do family portraits but hadn’t found the right photographer. This family is originally from California and lives in New Orleans, both places have a plethora of talented photographers (more talented than myself in my opinion) so the fact that in her search, she deemed me the right choice, I am more than flattered. Here is ONE photo of the hundreds of good ones. I was lucky enough to have my friend  Megan (if you scroll a couple post down on her blog you will see me and my super hero powers) coincidentally also from California in town who helped shoot this family.

I puffy heart love this image!
